I probably write about Ayn Rand too much, especially for someone who is not an objectivist. I shall try to scale it back. Anyway, after my last post about Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”, I read Mrs. Rand’s “The Romantic Manifesto” (1969), and it struck me how well the film seemed to fit her “Romantic” conception of art. Hence this post. If Randian ideas are not up your alley, take this as an exploration of some of the things that make this film good enough to have been lavishly praised by Siskel & Ebert back in the day.
